What's holding you back?
I bought my XJ three weeks ago and I'm dying to play! I'm on here every day wishing I could chime in on my cool adventures or my lifted whatever. But having a bone stock XJ with bald tires and having no money blows! I think my next major purchase will be a water softener or current softener repair.(woo hoo.) Anyways, I was wondering how many of you have been wanting to play with the 'ol XJ but life keeps getting in the way. Or, how long did it take to get your Jeep the way it is now?

I've owned my XJ for about 6 years now, but it didn't get many parts other than the lift in the first 2 years. Then sat for about 2 years after I got my WJ, then I fell back on love with it! Over the past 2 1/2 years its progressed from this
To this!!!
In do time your XJ will be everything you wanted & more... 1 part at a time!
EDIT: don't give up on it, that first pic I took to put it up on some local classified adds about 3 years back!!! Lol

Year and a half so far, things holding me back thus far, more traction (locker) to get up stuff with the 31's, eventually, more lift and bigger tires to get over bigger stuff. An XJ's a work in progress, you'll get there, just takes time. Heres a before and after for effect.

Whats holding me back is ZERO spare time. I work midnight shift 7 days a week. My last day off was new years. So I sleep during the day. Plus I have a 2y.o. daughter that keeps me busy. Work doesn't leave me much quality time with the family, much less time with the jeep. Luckily I bought my jeep already lifted, 36's, bumpers, bunch of other crap... But just to give you an idea of how I can work on it, it took me 3 days to change the brake master cylinder! I'd get started in the morning then be ready to pass out after a little while! I've thought about selling it more than once...

Patience is the key my friend. JY's, PnP's, and CL are amazing. You're not always gonna find something great, but every once in a while you can hit the jackpot. if you're looking for money, check the gigs section of CL. People always have something they nee help with and even though it may not be much, you can save it up fairly quickly. Just remember, it'll never be done 'cuz there's always gonna be something else you'll want to do. Scratch things off your "I want this for my XJ" list one at a time. You'll get there.

Honestly, Don't let being stock hold ya back. I have just as much fun wheeling my stock 01 Cherokee than I do my dedicaed wheeler. My Cherokee has the up country suspension, 235s, and it gets wheeled to it's limits (and little past, the last trip and my pass rocker tells that story. ) I plan on doing a mild build on it. I can't take the hardest, most difficult lines but I still play. I leave the harder, more technical stuff to my 'Other' wheeler.
Don't let being stock hold you back, get out there and learn what you need and what lines to take when playing. Often people get surprised at what a stock vehicle can do. I know mine surprises me from time to time, but that's the fun in it! Get ya a set of decent/ what you can find for the best price tires and see what it can do! It might surprise ya!
Crawl > Walk > Run.
E'l Stocko I have a blast in!
