Wheeling stock is fun... but a mild lift would be better. (and definitely better tires)

I went yesterday, and got caught high cetnered (1 tire on the ground) on a large patch of unmelted snow... I was resting on my body.
I didn't wheel alone, but we were both in the same vehicle.
And it wouldn't have much mattered as I dont have any recovery points
Took almost an hour of shoveling out snow. I got about 4 inches of room to rock.... and two minutes later I rolled out of there.

the lack of a true frame was holding me back from really going to town rebuilding my XJ with long arms and different axles. I'm fixing the fame issue by parting ways with it so some one else can enjoy it while I start building and wheeling a YJ that I'm going to turn into a buggy over the next few years.

What's holding me back? ... Nothing. What should hold you back is nothing as well. My first xj never progressed past the stock stage. But I wheeled the crap out of it every chance I got. My second is still almost stock. Just has 3" and 31's. I've been wheeling it for many years. I am currently on a break due to a blown d30, but as soon as a replacement is located and installed its back to piling the family in and cruising trails.

Only things holding me back is the fact that I live paycheck to paycheck and owe the government $1300. I'm still saving for tires and skid plates at the same time though.

Yep gas isn't cheap, but its still not as costly as taking the family to an amusement park. Yet you'll still find your heart in your throat! Lol

Get out there...

I guess I'm fortunate enough to only be married without kids for the moment. My wife raises horses and we currently have 8 with two due within a month. My problem is, I'm going to want the best stuff first, that way I'm not replacing it all the time. But, I should be thankful I have a home, a job, a wife, and a good running XJ!

Poor college student, but I'm able to save up. Just ordered my 3" lift actually, but what's been holding me back since last October when I bought my XJ is the cold weather here in michigan. I'd be out every day when I wasn't in class or working spending time on my XJ if it wasn't 30 degrees.

I'm just a working stiff with a lot of bills, three kids, and a grand-daughter, so my money is spent before I even get my check. My ZJ is my daily driver and spends 99% of its life on pavement, but I do take it off road about once a month and have a great time with it being bone stock. It does amazingly well off road with only some worn out 30-9.50-15 BFG AT KOs on it and no lift. Can't wait until I get some new rubber in a few months.

I don't have a garage to work in either, I just do it in my driveway

Oh and the other thing holding me back is that I'm scared to death of putting knew shocks on. I don't want the rear top mount to break
