i have MT & is it true that they grip the road so much it decreases your MPG?

It's because of rolling resistance, mt's tread blocks are further apart than like an at so it is just a tad bit harder to spin. I would say the difference between matching sized tires one being a mt and the other being a at would just really be noise. I may not be completely correct on that so if someone else wants to help out go for it but I think I pretty much grasped it there

Stay with the BFG A/Ts but size down to the 245s as you stated.

The BFG A/T is one of the best tires out there, they have been known to run well past 50,000 miles without showing signs of being worn out (given there are rotations every 6k miles, they are properly inflated, and you don't do burnouts)

Best tires out there...? Come on now
Haha just messin with you...they are a great all terrain, but heard they are real crappy in any slick or muddy area...dont bite my head off, its just what i have been told...i run nothing but M/T's Not a fan of getting stuck.lol

HANCOOK DYNAPRO MT's. I have them. Great traction on the road, very quiet on the highway also. Look good and also they do well off road. And I have 2wd and haven't gotten stuck yet. 6 ply Kevlar side walls.
