hey guys, I'm new on here and you guys have been super helpful so far. I've been trying to figure out what the part in the pic below is. can't figure out what to search to find it.

it started occasionally making a fast ticking noise when idling. when I put my hand on it I can feel it pulse. is this okay or is it going bad?

have a 2001 XJ and I'm new to working on it / taking care of it. any help would be great, thanks!

It's the solenoid for the evaporation canister. It's part of the emissions control system and should be clicking away constantly.
