what model besides grand?
excuse my ignorance, but when I serach craigslist for cherokee, nearly all that comes up are grand cherokees (limited and lerado) - but I am hearing suggestions from here to go with just Cherokee (not grand).....so, is it the cherokee sport and the cherokee classic that's being suggested or are there others? why so hard to find anything other than grands?

Ruh Row! What did I start....well, most important to me is that I am wondering why all I am finding are Grand Cherokees on craigslist when now I am finding out that there are other types available? Don't wanna cause a debate between the types

Have never had to turn back yet
All it Is just a bit more comfort

Like stated ZJs are good wheelers and come linked in the rear so they will out flex a XJ most of the time. T-cases are the only issue I've found with them. Mine had a 249 that was junk, the 242s are good and if you are real lucky you can find one with a 231. Front is low pinion but can be swapped to high pinion if you lift it but unless it's over 5" it's not worth the hassle. Rear is a turdy five and in 96 (I think) you could get a 44a which is a tiny bit stronger but has less aftermarket support.
Grands cost a bit more to lift but are great offroad. I have seen a few WJs out and they do OK but the rear upper link attachment is prone to problems.

Just a joke guys. I've driven ZJ's and just didn't care for them. Don't care for their looks either, but if I ever decided to chop the top off something a ZJ would be my 1st choice.

If you want a grand stay away from the older (94-98 ZJ) V8's most of them had serious electrical problems. And now its my turn to get an ear full... Jeep lovers are fanatical.
