+1 if you don't know what's in your rear diff the gear oil could probably use a change anyway.

Exactly. The differentials have been underwater for a good while several times so they're more than due to get drained. I just got to get some new fluid to put in there afterwards.

Cool. So a limited slip is only effective when both wheels are still on the ground?

Inside the carrier, you should be able to find a writeup on replacing them. Pretty normal for them to go out after so many years
