Those Dragon shots?
I paid 2100 for my 92 in 2002 with 170k (I know a little much but it was clean one owner) First week of college someone backed into it and insurance gave me $300. So 2100-300= 1800 second week of college girl rear ends me while scarfing down her burger and fries. (funniest thing ever her getting out with ketchup, mustard, and coke ALL over her) That little mishap totaled it for which I got a whopping $4600 (agent on crack?) so then I bought it back and drove it another 2 years before selling it to my dad for basically $1000 (he paid the difference I needed to get my current XJ)
Recap: 92 Paid $2100-300-4600= $2800 profit -$300 (to buy it back)
= $2500 total profit and dad still has it with 213k and little bro is
about to get it as a first car
98 Sport 120k 2 owners $6000 (now has almost 200K) in 2006

1100 USD For my 97 Ex-Conservation Sport. 144K miles. Not a single problem other than the water pump needed replaced. But I have a dad and brother for that. They did it while I went to work.

i didn't actually pay for it, it was my only christmas gift back in my freshman year of college (but my dad left the invoice out on the desk, and he paid $4,800 from a guy at a used car lot in Ohio). i thought it was the best thing in the world, but then reality had set in...
the sales guy lied to my dad and said he had a tech redo the brakes, but the front rotors had a huge gouge taken out by the old stock pads, the rear cylinder on the driver side drum was shot, almost every fluid imaginable was leaking out of it, and it was like that only at 74,000 miles. amazing what a little "stop-leak" will do for a used car sales man. said it only had two owners, but drove more like it had 4 and they all were reckless and mindless idiots.
the deal was i'd pay for any and all repairs (at the time, my dad and i thought it was in good shape, since he didn't really inspect it before purchasing, so i thought i had an easy ride out of it). i ended up putting down as much money repairing it as my dad had paid for it in the 5 years or so that i've had it, but since the thing is in almost perfect working order now, i don't want to get rid of it. if anything, the more and more i drove it, the more and more i've grown to love the little puke-bucket. it got me through some haggard weather, has been hit by countless morons, and it keeps coming back stronger than the last time. that's why i am doing my baby right by getting the bigger tires, lift, and whatever performance mods i can do.
i'll tell ya, that Haynes repair manual has become the best purchase i have ever made with this thing, lol.

I bought two retired 4WD 2000 XJs for $150 each. They were TV news vehicles I purchased from the TV station, my employer. One had 160,000 miles and the other had 180,000 miles. Both were put in to service again after some minor repairs (new tires for mine, new batteries for both, a new power steering pump for mine). I think I have a total of $1500 in both vehicles and they are running strong.

I traded my 96 camaro (i paid 3500 for), and got 1000 back with my jeep. So I'd say I paid 2500. Its a 1998 classic with 116k. fresh paint, no rust, 3in lift, 31in tires. Needs work though. I'll end up putthing that 1000 back into it, to get it where I want it.

I sold my '91 Laredo with 171,000+ for $1500. I then turned around and bought a '98 Sport with 130,000 for $500. The '98 has a rear bumper/frame issue that requires a little straightening but aside from that, it runs like a beast. She gets up and goes. Plus, it came with a hitch. Which my '91 didn't have. I think I made out rather well.
