Driver's side was 1 & 1/8" but passenger side was even bigger - needed my biggest adjustable wrench and a mallet to crack that nut!
I'm the OO and this is the first time I've personally done the ball joints (167K miles) - although I cannot confirm or deny having had them done previously by someone else. My question remains unanswered. Is the difference between the left and right nuts the product of a previous hack mechanic or a factory foible? This defies logic and I am perplexed over it...

Drove it to the big city(hour drive) and on the way there my check engine light turned on
checked all my guages all looked good besides my alt gauge looked like it was a bit low, when i got there stopped and re-started it up and it started just as should and drove as should so i went about my bussiness and i stopped and went to start it up again it BARELY started then i knew the alternator was shot, ran to the parts store and had to drop $180 for the alt and then took it to a mechanic to get it put in being i didn't have the right tools with me to do it myself wich that was another $50
But got it put in and all is good now

Just started to remove the headliner and pillar cover to repair the leak that put 2" of water in the drivers floorboard. Found the drain tube is plugged so water ran down the pillar to fill the floor board. We had tornado's and "2.5 of rain in 30 mins. and I was on emergency call and had to run out. Got back home late last night and power was back on. So time to drain the jeep and repair then start the yard clean up.
