I took the wife and kids out in the XJ today. We did some forest exploration that was more goat patch than actual road.
then we had a few creeks where the county chose not to build a bridge.

We visited the oldest Bridge in Arkansas too, it was built in 1876.
I like this picture. Not bad for an EX-GI 87 model. I need to replace the bumpers.
The First creek.

3" lift and stock wheels and 235/75/15, 4.0, AX15, NP231, 3.07's (I think) laugh if you will but it got over 20mpg today.
Believe it or not that is a county Road.
Even the XJ was enjoying the view from the highest mountain in Arkansas.
If you care to you can read the whole blog at http://armusings.blogspot.com

Got the (electric) pressure washer hooked up to blast all the mud out of the wheel wells... turned the water on, turned the washer on, pulled the trigger and got nothin... I think somethin crawled into the line and plugged everything up... without any way to release the pressure though, I can't take off the hoses and can't get it out.
Anyway, I wound up cutting some plastic lining out from one of them that was hanging down (pic)
Also discovered what was wrong with my steering... the 2 bolts that hold the gearbox to the frame had worked themselves very lose before I ever even bought it... and the previous owner apparently didn't even bother to check it out...
But I'm glad it was a five minute free fix instead of having to drop cash on another gearbox. Steers like a brand new jeep now.

Got stuck almost rolled it down the mountain ...then after checking all bolts for proper fit I aired up and left Idaho springs ,Co and just 10 miles from home had my drag link came off luckily my ram is attached to housing/ tie rod as it stil allowed a little...very little...control luckily I was only at 45mph ,so I managed off highway and replaced the S-h-!-tt-y no cotter pin having bolt with a grade 8 bolt to get it home ...The bolt that came with the set up had no cotter pin on the drag link bolt ,which I've never had a problem with until today ,so I'll be changing that now ,As I never really did like the supplied mounting hardware ...it just took almost wrecking to completely hate it .

Rewired my HID ballasts
Retrofitted a pair of headlight projectors into my H4 housings
Cut lexan polycarb lenses for my headlights
Intalled everything and aimed my headlights.
It has a SHARP cutoff now so i'm not blinding oncoming traffic and the XJ looks really sick at night, especially from far away.
I'm thinking about adding a projector shroud and possibly some white LED halo rings just to make everything look "complete". I got all the results I've ever wanted for cheap too. I paid $35 for the 6000k HID kit and its been working great since last october; I paid $19 for my H4 housings, $7 for a pair of projectors from the junk yard, and I spent another $20 on supplies like sealent and lexan. For around $85, I got what people spend over $300 for. Awesomeness.

Yesterday Black Police xj and I finally finished my U-Joints lol. Broke one of the wheel bearing bolts off in the steering knuckle and wheel bearing last weekend so that was our biggest waste of time. Ended up get the bolt out of the steering knuckle but it was rusted solid in the wheel bearing, plus all the beating on that bolt ruined the wheel bearing. $130 timken wheel bearing and probably $100 in new tools later and my front axle U-joints are done! ohh and when it was on the lift the 4wd was acting real strange so I think something is wrong there, possible t case issue. Awesomee!!
Oh and Black police took me for a "tour" around his land and broke his power steering pump lol

Handles very well, no sketchyness. I noticed the rear suspension works better, freer, without the sway bar. Sway bar is staying off, I like the way it feels without it much better.
