well...., started out Friday, took thr wife out to dinner. came out and found a puddle under the rig..., Crap! (antifreeze) put it on the hoist Saturday, rotated the tires, checked the brakes and looked for the source of the leak..., Crap again! weep hole on the water pump! crap! crap!! crap!!! so I went and bought a water pump, antifreeze, oil, oil filter, air filter and a bunch of other stuff that i couldn't live without. so now I'm out $120 for all this stuff.., Crap!! get up early this morning at 0600 crap!! get to the farm and drag the stuff out of the rig and start disassembling the front of the engine

what a PITA! got the pump in.., checked to see why the fan wasnt working.., bad motor..., crap! stole the one out of my 96 country, connectors are differnt.., ok, I'll just splice it in.., no splices, no wire nuts.., crap! ok, next weekend then..,

drained the oil.., couldn't get the filter to budge! crap again! ok, wont change it then.., i'll just pay $25 to the oil change place in about 3000 miles, let them deal with it!

lower the xj back to earth and start it to fill it with antifreeze. Justin (new friend from CF) yells, You didn't put oil in it yet! CRAP!!!! shut it off, ran for less than 30 seconds.
Whew!! thank you Justin for being there!! put in the oil and tried again. while adding AF smoke starts coming from the intake/exhaust manifold area..,Crap! i must have spilled some filling her up. then she starts running hotter(about 230) than normal.(under 210). coolant wasn't circulating yet I guess
well things turned out OK I guess.

For all the BS that we go through with our xj's, why do we love them so much?

for me its the feeling that I can go just about anywhere I want with confidence that I can get through it and look great doing it, and the power and torque that the engine has. you wont get that with any stock V6 or even some V8's.

I love my Cherokee!

this is what I did to my Cherokee today.

I cut the back fenders with an angle grinder, filled in the cracks with fiberglass and bondo, andpainted them. they look awesome. they are ready for the lift I'm getting on Tuesday. Its a rough country 3" lift. Its not much, but its better than stock

Today I got the valve cover gasket replaced. Got half done and it started to drizzle.

Also took the CJ7 out for some fun only to discover the radiator is leaking......bad.

Just an average day with the Jeeps.

Installed a larger OEM mopar battery
It barely fits in the engine bay, I had to really cram it in there but it's worth it. The Jeep starts a lot better now and my tail lights don't dim when my subs hit anymore. I have to figure out how to modify the battery tie down for it to really stay secure, but it hasn't moved yet so I guess I'm fine lol.

Oh and I went to the junkyard and got me a set of neon injectors that don't fit my XJ so I'm selling them. Check them out in the for sale thread. They're the 784 injectors.

I also got a new fuel float because mine is broken and I haven't had a working fuel gauge since november hahaha

Not so much today as yesterday, mostly 'cuse I didn't have time to wrtie it up after I got it finished at like 10pm. (3:30 am for work comes stupid early)

So, yesterday at like two in the afternoon I am going about my normal routine. Right about then it involved giving my daughter a ride to work. We run through the thunderstorm to get to my XJ, jump in and... squish.

Wait a minute, why does it feel like I just sat on a wet sponge?

Oh, thats just the seat.

Look at all the windows, nothing left down. That when the first of many drips bounced off my steering column and all over my lap.

Wonderful. My windshield seal looks to be leaking.

So I give the wife a call and ask folks to clear the driveway so I can pull into the garage, stop at the store and grab some sealant, and head back to the house.

So much for my relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Once I get it home and get the trim pulled I get to cleaning. That when I get my brilliant idea.

You see, when I bought my XJ it already had a bit of rust on the roof, just back from the windshield. Nothing that looked too horrible mind you, just three or four patches the size of my palm that were rusted with no paiint, and a couple even smaller ones where the paint had bubbled up.

In my infinate wisdom I decided that since I would already have the trim off, and already be cleaning up the area for putting down the sealer, I would go ahead and wire wheel the majority of the rust off, prime it, and paint it with some rustoleum to keep it from getting any worse 'till I could get time to sand it back off and do it right.

Really, it's a good thing I did.

Remember those two bubbled up patches?

Well, there wasn't a damn thing there but blistered paint and powdered rust. Two holes in my roof, each about the size of a quarter.

Just what everyone wants to see on a rainy Sunday afternoon right?

So, looking at the clock and knowing I had all of about 13 hours before I had to be driving it to work I kinda cheated.

I blasted everything clean with electronics cleaner, since it evaporates crazy fast. Then I filled the holes.

With Great Stuff.

Waited a while for that to dry, then cut it off flush with a knife.

Once that was done I hit it with a thin layer of bondo to seal in the great stuff, a couple coats of primer, and a couple coats of paint.

In the end it still needs work, but looks a damn sight better than the rust patches I set out to fix in the first place.

Not to mention, it won't be raining inside the Jeep next time it's raining outside.
