Hi guys
just over a week ago i bought my first Jeep cherokee xj, 1999 4.0L auto in dark blue with grey leather int with 130,000 miles on the clock, drove it just over 200 miles from the sellers house and the drive was great with just a couple of minor faults to sort out ( slight play in steering and spongy brakes ) but will soon sort that and can't wait to ask a few questions.
What did i do to my cherokee today? Nothing because i sold the last of my cherokees 5 years ago. Been sitting on the porch on my rockers sipping bourbon ever since.
Sup people!
It’s been cold up north and my 2000 Xj would crank but no start. Just got it last month, 184K on the clock.
I did put all new spark plugs (copper) thinking that was it…it wasn’t.
Remember seeing DexXJ on YT pour some water for a crankshaft position sensor. Did that and it cranked right up.
Then in the cold (11 F) and dark I tackled putting a new CPS in. Tell ya what that’s a B word.
That's what I did to my Jeep today.

Sup y’all!
I replace the air box (cleaned filter but need new one) and dropped in a new electric auxiliary fan (Omix-Ada brand) and put new struts in the back hatch and slapped on a new battery holder. Was a productive day.
QUESTION: Will I have to remove the fan to put the fan shroud on? Is there an easier/lazy way to get it on?

Got a 1995 4x4 SE. It's as plain as you can get. Idiots lights-no analog on cluster. Crank windows. It's got 104,xxx on the clock.
From Connecticut, so not rust free. Floor boards, some rear cargo area, drivers side rockers, and lower rear quarters it what I see so far. Unibody looks surprisingly solid. I guess I'll know for sure when I open it up to replace floor pans. The rest of the underside looks decent. Front spring perches are not gone, general underside rust is not bad. Brakes were done about 10K ago so that is good for a bit.
Needs neutral safety switch cleaning and ignition switch needs R&R. Needs cat back exhaust, new tires, suspension refresh (looking at Up Country parts refresh), front and rear suspension "soft" parts refresh. I haven't checked ball joints yet. Cooling system looks OK but will do a clean/flush/refresh. Fortunately is was a one owner, "older couple" owned vehicle, so it is bone stock.
I have another, 1999 Sport, but I will start on this 1995 first. It's a little bit better starting point.
Note to everyone with a 1994-1996 (6/15/96) that needs a ignition switch---Mopar Parts Giant has them on clearance for $4.50. If they sell out and someone needs one, let me know. I bought a few. https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/part...tra2=&filter=()

If you warm up the shroud sonits nice and pliable you might be able to slip it on
Keep charging my battery, because i cant afford a new battery yet,so I can at least run redmuck in this cold.
I did this for over a year till one day it bit me in the butt and left me stranded in the middle of the highway during rush hour. (the IAC was going bad and the engine stalled, battery was to dead to restart)
Got a set of rebuilt 4 hole injectors from ksuspension. In the box for anything else on the order I said, "draw a big smiley face on the box"
Legends....
