Ordered more "top hat" breathers from my dealership.
My mistake was putting the tranny and transfer case breather over by the brake booster.
That was a dumb idea because they come up on the passenger side in my '00 so I should
have just zip tied them on that side.
The rear diff is on the driver's side so that made sense to put that there.
I want to say I bought 11' of hose but only used about 9'. Plus secured the hose with fuel injector clamps
and not worm gear ones.
For the tranny and transfer case I just cut off the breather and extended the hose instead of replacing it all.

What's a p/n on those breathers? Wanna redo mine

Before you go nuts looking online for the cheapest price check with your dealership first.
I got mine through them and paid $4.16 before tax for each one. But no shipping.
They do look out on the pricing though so no idea what they might cost you.
They had to order them but I think they were only a day out.

About 6 years ago I swapped over to synthetic gear oil in my diffs. I use the Valvoline VV975.
So I figured I would swap the gear oil out. Figure about 18K on it.

Instead of opening up the diff I used the suction tool we sell at the store.
I was able to get 2 quarts out. Figure capacity is 2.2 quarts so.....
I used a diff/gear oil RTV when I swapped over 6 years ago. Wish I had known about the LubeLockers back then though.
So I learned a couple things. I am going to have to buy a clamp to secure the hose. Cause it kept on sliding off.
The hose is just a little big so I am going to see if I can get a reducer, use smaller hose, and clamp to make it easier to
get down in there and maybe suck out just a little more when I do this next time.
Thinking once every 5 years. If I ever go back into that diff though I am definitely using a LubeLocker. LOL.

That is most likely the transfer case.
I always figured that was a check valve of sorts. Cause where it rides, lower down, it could get water in it.
Guessing that is the black one you are talking about.
Pretty sure this is the breather and hose for a transfer case.
I wonder if there would be any ill effects from using that instead of the white hat vent cap? The hose I'm running is 3/16" and I need to adapt that fat white hat to it, which is not really an issue I don't think.

I don't see why it would matter but....
I bought one of these from my store:

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTH9...ordInput=90554

Some 5/16" hose and cut the TC breather hose just below the check valve.
Extended it. Used some hose clamps, and used the top hat breather.
If I remember correctly it is a tight fit so you do the brake cleaner trick.
Spray the end a little and quickly work the breather in.
Does something to rubber hose for a couple seconds that lets you get something in
that just doesn't quite fit in.

Just swapped out the transfer case fluid. Red as could be. Thinking I am going to a 5 year swap instead of 2.
Going to get my tranny fluid swapped to but thinking going to a 5 year swap on that too.
The Jeep spends more time in 4 wheel drive with me playing with it in the driveway then it does on the road. LOL.
I try put it in 4 wheel drive every once in awhile to keep the linkage moving and I back up and pull forward in the driveway a few times.
So few years back I put in a factory transfer case skid plate. My Jeep is just a DD so don't ask me why cause I don't know.
The one thing that I did not consider is that it extends past the drain plug on the transfer case. So of course all the fluid want to hit the skid
and splatter all over.
My landlord runs a landscaping business out behind the house. Has all these plastic flower pots back there. I mean there is like a zillion of them.
So this was my solution to guide the fluid into the drain pan.
Now let us see if I have the energy to swap out anti-freeze today.

Was $8 for shipping. Local dealer says can't get them because they are discontinued. And wouldn't be stocked anyway because they are over their 8yr stocking schedule.

Thinking it was a few years ago when I did get them.
It is amazing how some parts are becoming not available anymore.
Some guy on another forum was trying to find CPS bolts.
When I did mine just to have in case I ordered 2 from my dealership.
Had to be ordered but thinking they too were just a day out.
Maybe also about 2 years ago.
Now you can't find them.
Still trying to figure out what you do about the molding around the hatch glass in a '97 and up XJ when you have to replace the glass.
I ordered one when I swapped over to privacy glass. Not a problem.
Can't find one these days to save your life.

So I went to the store for supplies and to rig up the suction pump.
I have one of those Harbor Freight pumps. Don't really like it much. Kinda awkward to work with IMO.
But I remembered the orange hose on it. So the orange hose fits in the clear hose.
So I bought one of these and shoved it in the orange hose.

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTH9...ordInput=90552

Shoved all that into the clear hose and and used a clamp.
Figure with the splicer the hoses won't collapse under the clamp.
I have gotten in the habit of using fuel injection clamps instead of hose clamps.
Put one on the other end of the clear tube to keep it from coming off the suction pump.
So the orange being smaller should fit better in the 8.25 fill hole.
But the fill hole on the D30 is smaller so I am about to find out if it will fit in there. LOL.

So the front diff oil looked pretty much like the rear.
Orange hose worked out OK and was able to suck out about 37 ounces.
So seeing how capacity is about 40 ounces that is pretty good.
Refilled the diff, buttoned her up, and now on to the tranny fluid.
After a break. LOL.

So I almost forgot to take a picture of used oil in a drain pan.
Poured some out of the waste container just to take a picture for you guys.
Know how much you guys like pictures. LOL.
So just a shade over 3 quarts came out of the tranny.
It looks less red then I hoped it would seeing how there is only about 6K on it.
Was thinking about swapping tranny and transfer case fluid every 5 years instead of every 2.
Now not so sure. At least about the tranny.
Transfer case was so red I could have reused it. MLOL.
So I figure I will throw in 3 quarts, break down everything, take a shower, and go see the guys at the
garage that I give my waste oil to.
Checking once it gets nice and hot, probably add a little here and there, and get it to the level that I like.

Put a pressurized water system in night before last. I'll be cleaning up the hose runs from the tank to the pump later but it'll work for our purposes while still leaving the tank removable when we don't need it.
