What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Some guy on Craigslist. He was selling a chrome grill and chrome headlight bezels for an XJ. But what caught my eye was the inserts in the grill. He was in Albany, NY and he shipped them to me in CT. This is a little embarrassing but I did pay $80 shipped for the whole set up. But I really wanted it so......... Plus with a little luck maybe I can recoup some of my money if I sell the grill and headlight bezels. Funny to because the chrome should be part of my Limited/Country/Up Country/European Orvis/'98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 clone look that I am shooting for. But I like the fact that my Jeep does not have any chrome. The grill inserts are what I am hoping will make it look more like the 5.9 grills on the GC's. The only other ones that I could find are these:
Even though those are pretty cheap I wanted bigger holes then that in the inserts.

Thank you. jessenator came through. I am really liking how it looks. Just hope it looks as good as his "Photoshopping(?)" shot does when I do them for real. LOL.
Any suggestions on which brand products to use? Gotta remember that I have the, and I mean the, worst rattle can skills.

Prep is the biggest key to getting anything done well and remember it only has to look good from 10 feet.
Seems either could be my answer to a permanent way of attaching screening in behind as a bug guard. Got some screening fastened in behind my oem grill and it's working great but I'm not sure it will hold up long.
Says 87-95 but it would have to fit a '96 to you think?

I have shots I saved of this guy who rigged up a grill cover. Guessing for colder weather. I saved them thinking it might help with the gutter screen install if it came to that.

"If I did not find some sort of grill inserts that I could deal with I was thinking of going to check out gutter screening at Home Depot. Maybe could put some rubber molding around some of that cut to size and figure out a way to secure it. Wanting to do something like this has been on the to do list, but very low, for 3 years or more.

I'm wanting to keep critters out of my relatively new radiator and a/c condenser. Got the screening in for now using two sided tape. Only way I could see to fasten it. The gaps in between the oem grill gives no support. Those inserts would offer a lot more mounting options.

I use aluminum window screen behind grill as a bug blocker. Has worked well on a number of vehicles. Holds up for a few years at least and has some stiffness to it.
What kind of double sided tape are you using? Cause that 3M VHB tape that I used for the door molding and roof skid strips after I had them Line-X'ed is like whoa. Better be exactly where you want to be when you come in even the slightest contact with where ever you are putting whatever. Cause there is no second chance.
Says 3M on the inside of the roll. Came from the maintenance department at the school my wife worked at. It's definitely sticky but I'd feel better with something like zip ties and more of a surface area for support. Backside of the oem grill didn't offer the best places for mounting either.

I have used both and that VHB tape is no joke.
When I put the door molding back on the Jeep I tried to let it sit to flatten out first in the sun. But it still had a bit of a bow to it. Plus I was a little off when I put it on. The door molding is not making complete contact with the door. Maybe just a couple of 1" or so sections on the longest piece. Now granted this is on a door but trust me despite my not getting it on just right that door molding is not going any where. Unfortunately that stuff is not cheap though.
