Seriously, im considering doing this to the MJ. Just a simple turndown by the rear bumper. I dont like how close the shackle and spring are to the pipe now.
Thus is what I am currently running and I don't mind it with my 19 year old ears.

changed the tranny filter and fluid and switched my LCAs so the Johnny Joints are on the frame and not the axle.

Does the other guy have factory wiring? Yours are probably getting the full voltage instead of being super dim. If Renix is famous about anything its poor connectors.

Yes, he has stock, mines upgraded. That's what Tim and I were discussing, if the Putco harness is causing mine to be brighter, but yet these are LEDs not Halogen.

If his wiring is bad enough lower voltage will cause dimmer output.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I know nothing about LED technology. These are an experiment/test for me.

Yes. Look a couple posts back about that dimmer and the video. Going to try that. Welcome on thoughts (not hate) for this experiment/test.

If you indeed have the same lights then the difference would be the wiring, yes. But if his are "more streetable" with inadequate wiring, it suggests that the pattern is inappropriate, or at best the low-beam is far too bright.

Sounds like the dimmer is a good option then. Going to try that and see how it goes.

If you're set on going this route, use the pot as a dimmer. When you get it dialed in, check the resistance across it with a multimeter. Then you can replace it with a resistor.

My YJ is still overheating in my commute to work (240°F+), so I'm gonna pick up a new radiator cap in the morning. I don't have high hopes, but they're cheap enough. I'm also hoping to spray out the radiator fins with a hose this weekend. I'm concerned, though, that the lower hose might be collapsing since it only happens at higher RPMs.

Oh well, one step at a time
