Broke tie rod end off in tie rod, cussed, threw tools, picked up said tools, looked at the front axle sitting on jack stands in front of it yet again and shook my head, cleaned up my mess and came inside for the night.

I've had my Jeep for one week now. Today I changed the right front hub since I discovered an expensive sounding vibration when I reach 40 mph. The vibration seemed less when accelerating and increased when I eased of the throttle. Shifting to neautral and turning while accelerating makes no difference to the vibration. The good news is, I did not make it worse...

This weekends project is about to start in a few minutes. Pulling the 21 year old springs out of the rear to I can take them to work and bastard pack them this week. Then Labor day weekend, is D day. Lift & tires are finally gonna get all slapped on.
Loaded up on tools, PB Blaster & beer, time to do work.
Edit 5 hours later -
Now I need a torch.

1. Bled the brake system (with my 10 year old son's assistance) and adjusted rear brakes (star n drum) and passed safety inspection on 2nd try.
2. Investigated creaky sailboat noises from 'neath car while wallowing around on driveway (likely bushings).
3. On the way home from inspection shop the dash lights went out ... fuse is good and tail lights still working (assuming they're on same fuse). Why I'm back here reading forum threads.
4. Thought about purchasing some new hydraulic lifts for the hatchback until I saw the price at the local McAutozone. I'll keep using the 2"x2" wooden support that came with the vehicle until I find some elsewhere.
5. Downloading a free pdf XJ service manual online at present ... 20 minutes to go.

Repaired power window problem on passenger door. It would only roll down half way and make horrible noises in the process. Removed door panel and discovered that the plastic tube guide deal had fallen off and the pipe cleaner looking gear was binding when it hit the bottom of the door frame. The plastic tube guide being old and hard didn't want to slide back onto gear channel so pulled out my cigarette lighter and heated her up. Slid back into place easy as pie. Sprayed a little lubricant up tube and on guide. Works like a charm ... goes up quick even.

After being THOROUGHLY pissed that my 50 bucks spent on fabric to re-do the headliner....only to FALL after like 2 weeks, I found a 98% clean light gray headliner in a Jeep at PullAPart........for 12 dollars.
Next, i'm running 5 1/4 door speakers and 5 1/4 rear soundbar speakers. The deck is a good Kenwood 52x4 watt deck, but with the tires and windows down the sound just gets drowned out.
I figured since no one sits in the back, i'd just move those speakers to the front.........wow whatta difference! More bass, better staging and L/R separation.
Also, if you look close, I snagged a Grand Cherokee shift ****. Oh it feels so luscious in my hand.
