so i was going to vacuum my rear carpet and when i was moving some tools i felt a little flex in the floor by my drivers side wheel well. so i went underneath and started poking a "small" rust spot with a screwdriver. then i just said screw it and this is what i did for about an hour

Not really sure why it was twisted like that instead of busting a joint. Only thing we thought of was maybe the shaft had a ding/dent it right at that spot....then the planets lined up and it twisted.

It's just a late 80's XJ 2dr with a 5spd, 3.55's, rear locker, and a stock 4.0 with some 35" Baja MTZ's.

I was guiding him up the rock ledge and it kinda hoped twice, then on the 3rd time it popped.

Made same mistake a few years back with letting one of my kids borrow my car, needless to say I don't own it any more since then. Wrecked the whole front end. Now my son just got his license a week ago and says: Dad let me use your Jeep to drive to school. FAT CHANCE.....

When you say header panel what are you talking about? Our parts yards are full of XJ's maybe you could have one shipped if the price is right. PM me with a pic or info.
