I haven't even seen aluminum edging here before, my old boss always used the rubber but I'll ask him he might know somthing.

So say a piece of 1x6 pvc molded around? How did you attach them to the fenders?

i bought a 1/2"x12"x8' piece. just used self tapping screws. drilled holes through the fender first.

Man, nobody touches my jeep but me...if I won't take it to a shop for a motor swap, what makes you think I'd let the monkeys at Jiffy Lube touch it?

LOL

I installed new Rocky Road adjustable upper and lower control arms, JKS sway bar links, 1" coil spacer and Bilstein 5100's…just waiting for my OME leaf springs to arrive so I can do the rear.

LOL

This.

Its funny though, I hadn't used one of these places in forever until I brought home my XJ... I ran it through a quick-lube place for the sake of convenience at the time as I had a lot of crap going on. It was interesting to see the game they apparently run on their customers... the guy came and got me, stating he wanted to "speak to me about my vehicle"

We walk out into the shop and he proceeds to show me the oil they had drained from the XJ... trying, I suppose to convince me that black and dirty are unusual for used engine oil. Naturally they had a product to help that condition. Then he points to the seepage around the valve cover gasket, indicating this also was not normal and they had yet another product to counter this condition. It was at this point I laughed and asked what he thought a 170k engine and its used oil was supposed to look like and if they treat all their customers like idiots. Needless to say I haven't been back.

It's one of the main reasons I bought my jeep. Got tired of handing money over to people for stuff I knew I could do on my own. I have been wrenching since I was a kid with my old man, but out of "convenience", and other issues, I didn't for several years. NEVER again.

And, FWIW, even my old man doesn't touch my jeep...but not because I don't want him to. He just doesn't want to anymore, and at 73 with a bad back and knees, I don't want him to. I would, however like to build one last car with him before he's gone...Like a late 50's chevy stepside pickup...he'd be in heaven then, LOL

Figured out where I went wrong with the WJ seat swap and got the drivers seat put in. Relatively simple, but probably not smart to start at 10pm in the dark. Smashed my thumb up real nice. Oh well. Now I just have to run power for them and install the carpet. anyone happen to know which of the empty slots in the fuse panel are love and which side is power? I want to look into the wiring for heated seats, But I've read a few threads that warned against it. I'm just thinking about how nice that would be in the winter though.

Why did they advise against heated seats?

Heated seats = bestest. Couldn't drive my TDIs in the winter without 'em. Got a ****ty cushion off of Amazon for my truck too lol

I could see them being an issue in an XJ with only a 90A alt.

Welp, tore the leafs apart. Needed to replace the center bolts and the bottom of one was cracked sooo there's a mess in the driveway until I can get to brute to have a new one made because I can't just but a new bottom leaf and I don't wanna fight with the bolts to put a new pack in... while it's apart any recommendations for replacing the plastic circles on the ends, it's slipping my mind what they're called.
