Pulled the trigger on the lift. Started around 7... this was as far as I got in two hours.
Stupid hardlines gave me hell. Couldn't get the nut loose to save my life. Tried open end wrench, then fuel line wrench, then when those two BOTH failed, I used the holy grail of no-no's on important parts.... vice grips. No dice.
So I gave up and went ahead with the rest of the lift. I'll relocate the hard lines tomorrow for a temporary fix until I can get new hard lines.
Here's a few more pics.
4" Bumpstop Spacers
I can already tell I'll be trimming those down. We'll see though.
With the wheel back on and on its own weight...
What the other side still looks like...
I think it's safe to say I'll be snagging a set of 33's next go 'round.
Got a few goodies. The 6.5" coils put my front end too high so went with 3" HD coils (give about 4" on a 4cyl) and these for about 5 1/4- 5.5" lift to match the rear springs.
I'm with you on the flares, but where are you mounting the digital calipers?
I mounted it in my tool box in hopes of not misplacing this set
After two days of dodging rain storms and putting up with nosy overly talkative people I finally managed to finish all the work.
Two bolts broke off taking the steering box out. They broke at the remains of the spacer, not in the steering box. The spacer was in 9 pieces when all was said and done, two of which I created. Once I got the remains of the spacer off the broken bolts, the broken bolts came out fairly easy.
For anyone thinking of making their own spacer, don't do it I like fabricating things, but in the rush to get things done between down pours, I made a really nice spacer for a right hand drive XJ When I made the second one I was rushing even more and failed to layout my holes properly, making one hole 1/4" out of place Being I was out of material to make the standoffs I just bored my holes out to allow me to get everything lined up. I will not be making a third spacer and plan on buying an after market one when I build my bumpers.
Right now I think I solved my front end noise. I still have a little air in the system so i will be checking that over the next few days. Then I finally got the flares back on. That went quickly enough, but ran out of light to take any pictures of the finished product. The rear drivers side isn't sitting right, but that is because I made my own bracket for the rear of that one. I could take it off and trim it down a bit, but I think I will just order a new one in a couple weeks. As it sits now the gap between the back of the flare and the bumper corner is about twice of what all the others are. Part of it is the home made bracket. The other part is that I didn't quite get the bumper corner high enough when I mounted it last fall. I will fix that when I get the new bracket, or just say the heck with it and deal with it when I build the rear bumper.
Up next is front axle seals so my XJ can stop marking it's territory I am only doing inner seals for now, my axles are a bit too pitted for the outer seals. When I add a locker I will be replacing the axles and I will install outer seals then.
Replaced the exhaust manifold on my 99' can't believe how quiet it is now! Overall it isn't that bad of an install. Got it wrong the first time though totally skipped the cylinder head dowls for the intake and got everything bolted up and started the jeep and it revved to about 6000. I shut it off immediately. Searched and read that my problem was that I didn't align the intake with the dowls and sure enough that was my problem
Washed my jeep. I mean really washed it. Undercarriage, polished my wheels, cleaned my windows, vacuumed my entire interior and then it rained. And rained. And rained some more. About 3 inches worth. I live down a dirt road so of course it rains
Got some garage time for the Heep. Pulled the new high flow fan clutch out and put the standard one back in, than gave the cooling system a good flush and refill. Heater blows like a furnace now!

Hopefully I'll be getting around to that before too long. How long did it take?

Sweet!
Finished up the lift last night... end result was death wobble due to a few things I should have taken care of ahead of time...
Found a full set of doors through my local group for free. Picking those up tomorrow as long as I can get my TC issue fixed tonight after work. Hello half doors!
