I get the biggest kick out of fall and spring here. In the spring when it starts to warm up people are out in shorts and t shirts, yet in the fall when it starts to cool down they are bundled up in full winter gear. What is funny is it is the same temperature range in both seasons
The sad thing is I am guilty of it too, just not as bad when it starts to cool off

Oh and -13F apparently according to car thermometer, and keep starts first try every time, even on a battery/alternator weak enough that I have to rev over 1k to brighten my headlights

The '99 is a real champ in the cold. It has started at -40 after sitting over a day, without being plugged in and preheated. Hate to do that, and shutter to think of what's going on inside the engine when that happens, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Even with a strong battery, it cranks over very slowly, and you can hear the individual cylinders come to life. Sounds kind of like a WWII bomber engine starting. The whole thing snakes because the rubber in the motor mounts is hard as steel at that temp. Than the heartbreaking moan of the power steering pump as the cold fluid starts moving (though it does that even if plugged in because it's not heated). 15 minutes later and the heater is blowing like a furnace.
Like I said, I hate doing that to it, but it's come through for me nearly every time. Only once did it not go, and that was because of a battery that was on it's last legs. I'm glad it hasn't gotten this cold this winter.
I haven't seen how the '95 will do in extreme cold yet, since last time it was -40, it had a blown out head gasket, cracked head, no coolant, and valves that only gave the appearance of closing. 2wd aside, it doesn't really have the best heater for extreme cold. They didn't have the technology to have heat go up to the defroster and down to my feet at the same time until 1997. You have to choose between seeing where you're going or having feeling in your toes.

My '99's P/S pump does that when it's -25.

Helped a buddy finish welding and mounting the roof rack on his XJ. I love the styling, but dang this thing was HEAVY. I would have used about half of the material and been happy.

Nice that somebody posted something they did to a Cherokee, instead of the XJ weather channel this thread has turned into....LOL
