I just drove mine to work. It worked like a champ firing right up and good heat when it was -8*F (-28*F windchill), and did the same on the way on when it was +2*F (-17*F windchill). I am very proud of it

Well i couldnt do it any more because my brake line would rip out.
Anyways, i found some new leaks. Going to start from the top.
Valve cover gasket first.

Use the Felpro blue valve cover gasket. Not cork.

Well. I was putting on my Banks Revolver header the other day and broke a bolt in the head. I took y'all's advice. Just put it on and holy moly. Went got a new head. Had it reworked and pow. Runs like a top. Hell yes.

x2 so glad I got fel-pro gaskets for my XJ.
I got my XJ running again finally. It's been almost 4 months since I've driven my XJ. it overheated on the beach and the head warped. Just not finally got it all back together and running. Was coming home from wal-mart and temperature spiked. to avoid it happening all over again I immediately pulled over and shut her down.
quick inspection showed a coolant leak, that I'm hoping is just the lower rad hose coming loose from the water pump(factory clamp came loose, might not have been put on all the way too)
when it warms up a little I'll be fixing that hose and putting an actual hose clamp on it. check for leaks again, and hope to god it's not the water pump or thermostat, but if that be the case I already have RTV and gaskets so I'm not too worried about it. the entire cooling system has basically been replaced. new radiator, water pump, thermostat, rad hoses, the head has been cleaned out and machined.
Now I just need to save up for new rims and 33s

-30 Plus wind chill
Was just happy to start the Peep and let her run an hour. She's beenchillin for a couple of days. Finally a sunny break in the cloud cover.
Did crank slow and long but fired and the serpentine belt wailed like a banshee.
Thermometer was pokin -30 and the wind gusting to 55kph.
She idled up on her own and the alternator came into action after about a minute. All blown in snow was melted and engine dried out, belt running quiet, while I was blowin snow. Nowhere to go anyways as many mainroads were closed to snowbound or variable blizzards.
I was dressed like a puff muffin and fingers freezing even thru double gloves.
All buttoned up for the night and a fairer day forcast for the morning.
