Have to have the right speed, let off the throttle, shift and then you still have to wait for the disengagement. 2wheel to part time is no problem, it's part time to full time or back that is, I guess for no better terminology "slushier" and then the same going from part time to 2wheel, just not as definite, there is always a lag for disengagement. But drive ability is still a vast improvement not having to worry about hitting a slick spot on the road. I run 4 studded snows during the winter months due to a lot of ice I encounter and shifting the 231 was getting old. Very happy with the swap.
When going from 2wd to full time, at ANY speed, just let foot off gas, pull shifter handle directly to full time, hit the gas peddle 2 times and your in.. should take less than 2 seconds in total to do that process

Now if only my MJ's fuel gauge had a needle... I've only gone dry once. Motor died at a red light, I started it back up after a minute, and I got just enough to coast downhill and into the station. 22.2 gallons in my 23gal tank.

As for not filling to capacity, they leave air at the top for heat expansion.
I normally get like 16 g in my 20

Fuel gauge, idiot lights (except voltmeter), and shift indicator don't work. Speedometer bounces, too lol
Pick up a used one off Ebay that has everything. Mine was like yours then I got an Ebay special. Now I have no more idiot lights. I even found one very close in millage.

Or, I can send you my old one for shipping. At least you would have a fuel gauge. It has 152,xxx miles on the OD.

Here is an Ebay one that would work in an 88.

Not sure about lumens. I got it from GGlighting.com. for $225! And yes, it's kind if a knockoff rigid, but I just couldn't pay $600+ for a light bar! This thing is so much brighter than the two IPF's I had on there before.

Thanks! I may think about it... I've just been building this thing for so long I wouldn't know where to start.
