all depends on what you want to do with your jeep.

for me, i'd go to the junk yard and grab a set of s-10 leafs to make a bastard pack, then either coil spacers or full coils (depending on how high you make the rear leaf packs), shocks and tires (if over 2 inches).
then work with what you need to, like unhook your brake line brackets or extend the flex lines or whatever is needed.

that can get you anywhere from 2-3 inches up to about 5 inches, then get 31 inch tires on your stock rims or 33's on some cheap steelies.

you should be able to get everything for under a grand and do the work yourself, and get your rig started. then decide what you want to do later, like full lift kit, or just start adding to what you've got, like adjustable control arms, adjustable track bar, bumpers, sliders, etc.

I would get this lift kit: http://www.carparts.com/autoparts/It...32490610612334

Find a used set of 31" mud terrains w/cheap black steelies, and spend the rest on some armor, and recovery points. A nice front front bumper and a rear tow hitch if you don't have one already, would make good recovery points. Easily under $1k.

Stick to around a 3" lift and 31s, and you won't have to upgrade all the other stuff to fit bigger tires/lift.

for 1k if you find the right deals and do the work yourself, you can have it lifted 3" on 31's with some new wheels, wont be easy though... or if you wanna improve performance i suggest getting a cold air intake, hi flow exhaust... etc

X2 on RC $200 bucks left get a set of raw steel header & paint them with VHT paint. I got a set of Rugged Ridge header for $212 bucks shipped to my door. Jeep runs smoother, better throttle response, & helps improve mpg. There shorty header really similar design to Banks torque header (shortys).
