Default Welding Perches???

im planning on getting the new RC 6.5" long arm kit. and some 33's. its a 98' limited. now one of my buddies told me that i had to cut my rear perches and reweld them after shifting the angle on my yoke. is this true? is this necessary to eliminate driveline angle? i do want my rig to run smooth too. looking for advise. thanks.

that is what shims are for. someone will chirp in thats been there before. you should never have to cut those off your factory axle.

Shims are a cheap alternative, till you puke 'em out on the trail.....and never use aluminum shims.
Cut the old prches off and toss 'em in the trash. Get a set of anti-wrap perches and set the pinion angle properly before welding them in place.

No. If you did that then the shims would take the place of the perches and the thin metal is not up to it.

Don't forget to take a couple measurements before cuttin perches off. I sort of forgot that step on one of my projects. Kinda made it a pain to realign it before welding

thanks for the advise guys. and yes i am planning on buying a set of anti-wrap perches from RE. also, will 33's be too small on a 6.5" lift. i dont have much money to go bigger and regear. thats the reccomended size RC says to run.
