I had to fix inside of door and removed the waterdam at the bottom. Is there a recommended adhesive that should be used?

Always good to tell us what year Jeep you are dealing with.
In this instance probably not quite as important though.
Sometimes things get lost in translation.
Pictures always help too.
So are you talking about the vapor barrier under the door panel?
Or the rubber strip on the very bottom of the door?

It is the plastic waterdam between the metal door frame and the door panel. I needed to replace a speaker and fix some door rattles. I did need to take off the full plastic, but just enough to get my hands inside the cutouts in the door. I did not damage the plastic, but need to adhere it back on. Not sure if it makes a difference what I use, but concerned if I ever have to take it off again. I just acquired this 1992 XJ and new this forum.
