Wanting a custom roof rack
Hey everyone. Trying to put a layout together for a roof rack for my jeep. I think they look really good and can be very useful. I have seen a lot of different ones and trying to make one that fits my needs. Want to be able to put a canoe on rack and also when canoe is not on top to have spare tire on rack. I know it seems like it could be a lot of trouble moving tire up and down but i think it would be worth it. and shoot free exercise =) Would appreciate any suggestions for layout.

If your building it, why not make 2 removable crossbars that have enough clearance to mount with the tire still there, and put the canoe mounting on that?

Heres a couple not the greatest pics, but if you go to my build thread there is a close up of it. I did add some bars going the length of the rack going front to back and then a couple more just in case I want my tire on top. It was mainly to add rigidarity as how it is on my build thread was not the best. I plan on doing a kayak later this year and mounting right on top. If you want better pics I could try and get you some and btw my rack is 40x60x aprox 6" high

Thanks alot. I will take comments into consideration. Just worried it might be up to high with the tire being on there but would be nice not having to take off tire every time i want to go to the river. then would also allow for lights which my earlier design wouldn't.
