Default Walmart roof rack

As a college student I have very limited financial play budget. Is it wrong of me to get a little roof rack from Walmart? I want one with gutter mounts and the full nine yards it's just too expensive. Thoughts?

I think the one from Walmart is too small. It won't really be useful. Save funds up for a good one or just modify something else that's more important.

Buy some gutter mounts from JCR or wherever and go check out your local junk yards. I see quite a few nice racks around here in there. Then just weld them on after measuring for fitment. (or if you cant, you have to know someone who can)

I've been running this one for years. Its held up pretty well, since it was cheapest I could find at the time . Its not gutter mount, it uses the factory roof bars, but still works if your looking for a cheap rack.

The walmart one is a bit on the small side but not a bad deal. If you really want a rack that is a decent size and in your budget keep an eye on craigslist and other online selling sites. You can find some decent deals there if you're patient. There are also a lot of local facebook offroad groups out there that buy, sell and trade all kinds of parts.

My buddy recently bought a rack from Walmart for $100 and put it on his zj. It's alright. It's just big enough to fit a spare tire. He mounted some lights and a shovel on it. I wouldn't spent $100 on it though.

X2 on getting some gutter mounts and making your own.
