Default VIN Decoder on this site

Was doing Google searches to find out more about my Jeep and came upon a VIN Decoder that is on this site...

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/vindecoder.php

Put my VIN in and it seems to work, but the info seems way wrong for my Jeep. It says I have a Wagoneer with wood paneling and power everything when I have a base model and roll-up windows. It also says I have an NP249 when I know I have an NP231. The T-case certainly could have been changed, but nobody is going to go to the trouble of converting power windows and seats to manual with it all matching the factory colors.

So my question is, have others used this and was it accurate? If not is there a free place to find my build sheet?

When I first did mine a few years back all was good. Lately there have been issues. This issue was brought up I believe it was in the stock Cherokee forum? Someone had an answer for it. Maybe they'll reply.

The thought crossed my mind but if you met the older couple I bought it from you would say no way.

It works for mine, but it's fairly generic and shows my XJ as a police edition for some reason. Most of the data it provides is correct, but would apply to any '00 XJ.

The Jeep build sheets are only supposed to work for 1998+ vehicles, but I've seen it work for earlier ones, so give this a try:

Get your build sheet here: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/...527R%2527%2529

Click on Your vehicle>Equipment listing. Then, enter your VIN in the field that says VIN, and click search. A PDF will open with your build sheet info.

That's awesome, thank you. It says I have a Trac-Lok in the rear, which is what I suspected. Not a true locker but better than an open diff.

I was joking, they have to locate and match VIN # in three different locations during inspection or it don't fly. lol

Default This is the chrysler vin site that I frequently use ....

http://dodge.custhelp.com/app/dodge/...VFU3BubQ%3D%3D

It is applicable to other dodge vehicles such as dakotas, etc. It worked perfectly for my 1996 Jeep XJ. Told me it was first sold to a rental car company, which I did not know when I bought it from a dealer....
