Default Using bumpers from other trucks?

Has anyone ever used a stronger steel bumper off like a land rover or something on their xj? Is it possible (maybe with some welding)? Just a stronger bumper that you could use a hi lift on.

If you can weld you'd be better off just building one.

Honestly I cant weld but I was thinking if I got a bumper from something else I could just get my buddy to weld on the frame mounts. But then again I don't know.

I doubt any stock bumpers form other vehicles would hold up to a high lift either. Most bumpers are made to absorbe the force of a crash and are made from pretty thin metal or even worse plastic.

And those tow hooks are usually bolted through the bumper to the frame so the bumper alone will bend with out proper support under the hooks.

I'm telling ya like everyone else your better off building one. Even if it's just box tube with L brackets bolted to it and the existing mounting holes is good if you don't weld.
