The Used XJ market?
Is it just me or has anyone noticed that it seems used XJ's are drying up, at least one that are affordable as in sub $1000 range?
I was talking to a bud this morning and he said that the used car dealers are jacking prices higher too, that the Cash 4 Clunkers boondoggle is now showing itself in what a bad deal it was for the used car market.
It took much supply out the chain.
So hows the market in your area?
Can you find em still that aren't either totaled or rust buckets?

Hey man, it's a 10 year old vehicle at this point. Cash for clunkers demolished a lot of bodies, and to the normal mall crawler, trading in a 15-20 mpg box for a crossover that gets 30+ mpg is definitely appealing. Can't blame em, but I like what I got for my money.

Actually XJ's sell very quickly in Georgia. If one pops up on the side of the road for sale its gone within a week. Look at ebay motors and you'll see people are over paying for cherokees they have never test driven!! Trust me, classic jeeps are coming back into the markets and only gas prices will determine their popularity. I never thought people would tell me they liked my jeep but it seems to be becoming more popular.

Lady at our church has a nice Nissan Xterra, I'd never been in one before and she asked me to get some ice from the store and take her car.
I got to say I was not impressed, it had less leg and headroom than my old XJ. Over all it was more refined feel but was not comfortable to me.
I can imagine that is a big reason, the newer medium sized SUV's just do have the comfort or room our old XJ's have.

Where I live there off the charts...some moron was trying to sell a 2000 with 123,000 on it for $7800 if it gives you an idea how much they want where I live. 5-Speeds are non-exsistant, im the only one with a 5-speed for 300 miles.

I notice a lot on Craigslist but not many private sellers. The dealer market is driving the cost of them up around here. Dealers are asking $6k + and driving the private market up some also. Not to mention I see them all over the road around here so their reliability is being noticed. I am not complaining, just glad I got mine when I did.
