Default Two more possibilities

Still looking for an XJ, have found two more to consider:
1991 with 125k, California Jeep, no rust, $2900.
1997 Sport with 144k, manual windows and locks (which is fine with me), has Dana 35 (unfortunately), seller says no rust but it has recently been under coated, $3500.
Both are 4.0 with automatic and NV231. I have been trying to find a 1997-1999 model, but wonder if the 1991 with lower miles would be worth considering. I drove a 1992 XJ Laredo for 7 years and 150k with very few problems. I know this is like apples to oranges, but just wanted some input. I am looking for a daily driver that will not be lifted and will see very little off-road time. Thanks!

If you just want a daily driver get the 97 the dana 35 is ok stock and it has abs if you want that.

Thanks for the reply, andrewmp6. I think I would like the newer interior better. The 97 looks like one of the more inexpensive Sports, so I doubt that it has ABS. Most of the 97-99 models I have seen have the 8.25, so the Dana 35 was a little disappointing. At least with the manual windows and locks it should have a lesser risk of electrical problems. I want to look closely underneath it when I get to see it, since the recent undercoating concerns me. The1991 model with such low miles was surprising, but it is 23 years old now. If one of these doesn't work out I will just continue looking.

What i was told all xjs with a dana 35 have abs then 8.25 are the ones with out abs.Look at the rocker panels for rust and the fresh undercoating would bother me but look at it closely see if any of it looks funny in spots.Or take a fridge magnet and stick it on random spots where they undercoated it.If it sticks its good metal if it don't its probably bondo or really thick undercoating trying to hide something.

Thanks again! I will have to look it over really well. It's first three years were in Michigan, then one in Virginia, two in Indiana, and the last eleven in Kentucky, so it has been around. I don't have to be in a big rush to find one, but would like to get it done in the next few weeks or months. It's getting harder to find ones with decent miles and good maintenance because a lot of people are keeping them. And prices for them are really varied between dealers, individuals, and locations.
