Why? You see something wrong with the LS3 motor that the entire SBC world doesnt see? Great low end grunt and excellent top end rush. . . . just about the best of both worlds. A very modest cam and bolt-ons gets it to well over 500hp at the tires. . . . if it aint broke dont fix it. The LS3 motor is just about the perfect small block motor ever made, except for the LS7 of course but thats a small block 427.

The GTO was only to be a 3 year run, it was NEVER going to be more. It was supposed to be a low production run of vehicles to bring a V8 RWD car back to Pontiac after the demise of the Firebird. In fact the car that became the GTO, the Holden Monaro of Australia, was in production from the late 90's to 2006, the end of its scheduled lifespan. Thats why the GTO could only be on the market for a couple years. The Monaro was sold all over the world under different name plates like Vauxhall and Holden and did very very well and was well liked by auto enthusiasts.

Second, an 11 second 2.5 Ranger? What cliff did you push it off of? Was it being pushed by a train? I should have never sold my 71 Buick GS- it ran 10:62 in the 1/4 at US131 Motorsports Park before I sold it to move to NC. And it was stock... Well mostly stock... The cam, push rods, rockers, and headers were in stock when I bought 'em... That car was KNOWN in Grand Rapids Michigan...

A Corvette tried passing him on the interstate once. Couldn't get around him till 120+ (that's where it tops out because the tranny slips in overdrive.)
OK. Here's a video of a Chevy pu with around a 500 HP duramax in it.

This ranger beats this thing hands down. That's a mid 12 second 1/4 mile duramax.
To beat this truck by a couple dozen truck lengths he'd run a lower et than mid 12's right?
Anyways, its aparent no one believes me so whatever. Just don't race a little black ranger wit a stack on it in ur gto or u will come crashing back down to earth in a hurry.

So turbos don't improve fuel economy? hmmmmmm 7.3 non turbo diesel gets 4.6 mpg and the turbo version gets roughly 10 mpg. similarly, non-turbo subarus get less mpg than the turbo version. Yes turbos give more mpg's. whether or not this air turbine will remains to be seen. worse case scenario, you return it for a full refund. where's "gimmick to remove you of your money"?
Personally I have found I can get away with a much larger tire when i have turboed vehicles but I have always been more interested in economy than 0-60

in alternate of running a squirel cage, a while back I had a theory of using a leaf blower as a booster. In search of proof of theory I snokeled the outlet of a blower into the inlet of a corolla. The result was just as theoried, with a good seal the blower provided a slight increase in idle and was able to provide a fluctuation of rpm when the throtle body of the car was slightly opened.
Further proof of theory was attempted by rigging a additional throtle cable to the blower then riging it to the pulley on the throttle body. I took of the hood (no room for the blower) and did a few test runs, result- very noticable increase in responsiveness and a definite increase in acceleration. I didn't clock it and when the wife got home she envoked instant veto but the proof of theory was established.
now this was done with a little 1.6 engine and a crappy homelite 25cc blower, in theory it would work aswell with a larger 4.0 with a coresponding increase in volume from a better bigger blower. In alternate it could be aranged with an independant throttle attached to a friction bicycle thumb shifter or manual choke lever so that the blower could be utilized or not at any given moment. The only shortfall I have found so far would be starting it, I have yet ot find a small displacement electric start motor to power such. I have looked at some back pack blowers that pack over 2000 cfm that would be more than capable of feeding a 4.0 so what do yall think?

And its not the only car to have over sea models. A lot of cars are based from different models across the world, and usually they are better.
Just because you are a GTO

Dont mean Im a hater. I already said I love the car. But it sure aint the be all/end all of performance cars.

Never said it was, but its not a overhyped POS like others on here have said. I own one and have owned many other performance vehicles including a couple Mustangs and a NSX and the GTO is hands down FAR better then any of those. Once I am ready for a new fast toy the Z06, C6, is where I am heading

Yeah they are, but they are still under 2 tons and there are a lot of performance cars out there heavier including the Veyron, just about every AMG even the coupes, and all the SRT's. GTO weighs as much as a Supra. Mine without me weighs just about 3400 lbs and it still has a full interior and a spare.
You are too funny.
Never did I once compare it to a Mustang. DestinationXJ said it already, they are different cars, and different classes. No comparison.
Unless you wanna compare apples to oranges.
Yes, I said overrated. If the GTO was the best bang for your buck car, why aren't they made anymore?
Exactly.
I'll stick by my statement.
Overrated, underpowered for their weight.
There are plenty of better cars out there.

..............can't we all just agree to disagree? I love the GTO, but my favorite muscle car is a 67 Camaro. I also like the late 60's Fastback Mustang's. 67-69 Firebirds are nice too.
So if ya have a muscle car, or a preference to muscle cars, and someone else doesn't agree. Just realize that you like it, and it doesn't matter if they like it or not, it's still what you like. On the other hand, if someone like something you don't.... well that's where we are all human, if we all liked the same stuff.... how boring would that be?
This thread was started about the electric superchargers.
I THINK WE'VE ESTABLISHED THAT THEY DON'T WORK.
Is there anything else left to be said?
