transmission problems
When I bought my jeep the owners said that the transmission might slip, but it didn't for awhile and now it is. I just want to check with you guys if it is my transmission slipping, when I go to accelerate and it gets at about 15mph it won't shift to second until I get the rpms up to 4 but then I am already at 35 mph. I just think it is skipping 2 gear but I don't know I am new to jeeps. At times it will jolt forward when I am coasting. It only does this at times, if I ease onto my pedal it won't go above 2 rpms and it will shift just fine but it takes along time to build up speed. Even when I ease onto it sometimes it won't shift into gear and have to go to 4 rpms. So my question is what do you guys think the problem is?

Check your fluid first. If it's full, and looks to be nice and pink like it should be, then you can skip fluid having anything to do with it.
Another thing you might check is the kickdown cable under the hood. Make sure it's right where it needs to be by following this video:
You might need to rebuild that thing soon if it's not the fluid.

Agreed.
Fluid level and condition first. TV cable for sure!!
Click on the link in my signature and see Tip 10. Do that also.
Tip 1 might actually uncover the root cause also before we go to the trans side of the tPS.

if trans is like mine it may be a shift sillenoid in the trans pan

trans points
I have a 98 grand 5.9 , I know it's different but could be shift silinoid in trans pan, mine has 3, I believe it's not hard to fix from what I saw on u-tube , one in pan and 2 just above under a small plate . just basic unplug and replace . hope this helps cheaper than a rebuild
