transfer case

I have a 92 cherokee with the transfer case going bad Does anyone know what year interchange with mine. Oh yeah its a 4.0

Took it to my mechanic. At first we thought it was a wheel bearing sounds it was making. They put it on the rack and found out the thumping noise was coming from the transfer case. He said it was going to cost 780.00 to r/r it. I was thinking of trying to get one from are local pull and save and replace it myself.
