Depends on the quality....

Junk quality can just run on a lil compressor and solenoid switch

Anything worth while tho, is gonna need a decent compressor and tank

Ya know, I've been wondering how hard it would be to hook up one of these to a refillable scuba tank. I have a few tanks stting around that I use for filling tires. A 80cf tank at 3200 psi seems to fill a good number of tires, so I'm wondering how long it could run one of these air horns (although I don't know what operating pressure they run at. Air tank could even run double duty-fill tires and operate the horn.
And if you buy a new tank from some diving shops, they re-fill for free for the life of the tank.

Just a thought, may not be pratical or economical enough.

If you don't need air conditioning, you can convert the AC pump to an air compressor.

it would work but i dont see how you could wire a noid to it and put a switch in.
wouldnt be very practical if you have to turn the valve every time

So you had money burning a hole in your pocket and you bought a trian horn, but now you need more money to make these train horns work? Sounds like a wise investment to me. You could have done more with two tanks of gas.

Alright I know how to do it.
I got a paintball tank (compressed air) and just run a hose to the horn from a on/off valve in the jeep.
Now I'm just wondering how I run the hose? The horns gonna be on the roof and I want the on off by the drivers seat so I can use it

Compressed Air tanks from a paintball gun. Is it LP or HP output? LP is 350, HP is around 750. Brand and color of regulator?

Either way it seems like too much pressure.

Where is it a federal crime to own?
I have a three bell Leslie looks just like these.
They use more AIR than a semi truck can make regularly.
IT blow them with the 80 gallon air compressor in the shop,
I wouldn't even think of putting them on a Jeep, they're HUGE and use to much air.

I have a friend that worked for the RR and I mentioned I wanted a set and I was out of town and the wife said they showed up on the porch one day.
I was .
I planned to put them on the Autocar.
