hey guys i picked up a trailer hitch for my 95 cherokee and i cant figure out how to install it. i got some bolts nuts and washers from home depot and i cant figure out how to get a wrench in there or even how to get the bolts in. maybe take the rear bumper out? or gets special bolts because it didn't come with any bolts id really appreciate some input on how to do this. thanks guys.

 

The factory method is to use a nut strip, a piece of flat stock with the nuts tack welded to it, basically. It goes inside the frame and the bolts go up from below. I put a hitch on my '99 and made my own nut strips using some flat stock and welding nuts to it. I used the hitch for a template and matched it up with the existing holes in the frame rails. If you don't have the equipment to make your own, just buy the originals.

 

There is a kit you need to get whick has square blocks for inside the frame i stick in from behind the bumper. The bolts are carraige bolts you insert attached to a wire snake that goes through the blocks and down to the hole. After all six are done, ( i had 6 for my class 3 hitch) use a buddy or a jack and lift it up to match the holes. In the kit theres 6 washers and 6 nuts. I think you can figure the rest out haha.
