Towing question
Hi guys. I have a 99 stock Jeep Cherokee 4wd, with a 4.0 lr engine. Wifey and I were looking at a camoer and but dont want to buy a new truck (love the jeep). We found the Vibe by Forest River. The model we were lokking at is the 6504 and if I recall right the dry weight was just over 2800 lbs. I know how these salesmen are...and dont want to mess up and have to buy another truck to pull this. Anyone have any real experience with a camper around this size?
Thanks.

Not sure how much people tow with their stock jeeps, but some heavy duty leaf springs and a regear should be alot cheaper than a new truck, and would make towing alot easier.

It's all about brakes and wheel base if you ask me, gearing and suspension is important too of course, but lucky for us the cherokee has a pretty long wheel base, rear drums suck tho!

I would definitely do some brake and engine upgrades, regearing would probably help alot to. I've pulled a double axle car hauler at about 1500lbs with my XJ and I definitely know its back there.
