Tow Hooks
I'm thinking about buying a set of Hicountry Tow Hook brackets with the d-rings. Any reviews on these? They seem to have a sturdy mount, but i was curious about the integrity of the bracket itself, and how they are to install. Let me know

i have heard good things about them from a few of my buddies...i have a set on my xj..i got stuck pretty bad while wheelin a few weeks ago and while getting tugged the bracket that bolts to the frame bent and the other bracket that holds the d ring cracked right down the weld... i took it of only to see that they didnt put solid welds on it the just welded 1 inch sections with 1 inch gaps inbetween welds...but overall they held up and did their job and i was getting yanked pretty hard by a 98 zj with the 360 under the hood

Reading phillyxj570s post I wouldn't have them on my rig. Don't know about you guys but I got hit by a busted hook someone bolted on a YJ when we were pulling him out. Not good, almost busted my dam leg.

I have them on my jeep and they are awesome. I have pulled many of my friends out with them and never had any problems. The install is very easy and straight forward. Heres the link. Its easier than explaining the install.

If you have a lower valance you will have to cut it because they d-rings dont line up with the factory tow hook location.
I have heard that they were having some issues with one of there welders a while back but they have since then fixed that. (fired)

Yes it is recommended that you stay clear, but I was standing behind the Jeep that was pulling out the one that had the hook break I figured I would be safe there. It was a newer tow strap and when the hook broke it snaped the hook right past the side of the recovery rig to where I was standing rolling up my strap after yanking out the jeep that was now recovering the one that had the hook break. Sort of a comedy of errors only not funny.
