i have one i plan to put in. its an android with 4g. Streaming music, torque app (google it), internet, movies, weather, i can use it for following writeups and videos in the garage, you could hook it up to a gopro to store vids, wireless calling and texts from my phone pop up on it

using launchers, root features and tasker you can make it boot and behave like it came from the factory if you were to mount it semi permanently. Itll turn on with key. If you turn it on between 8 and 830 it can automatically pop up the gps and traffic report for your way to work. all of this is fairly easy to do with a little bit of know how and the possibilities are endless

edit: they also have trail and outdoors apps. use it to mark your journey. You can also get an app that shows your tilt (is that a gyroscope?) so you can see how off camber you are while wheeling

 

I have an extra used engine management system that I will sell you its a "F.A.S.T." system will take $7500 for with extras it as I don't need a spare any more. With it you can control everything and when it happens including boost lol.


With any touchscreen in my XJ have no idea what might happen as who knows where my finger might hit while bouncing around on the trail............EJECT BUTTON!!

 

You can use an Android tablet with GPS and Blutooth for APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System). You have to be a licensed amateur radio operator to use this though.

It is not voice transmissions but data transmissions. Location, speed, altitude, direction, frequency you are monitoring, etc. You can also send messages to other APRS users, send text message to a cell phone, and send an email. All the info displays on the tablet.

Its good for situational awareness and for tracking your vehicle either by family/spouse while out wheeling or storm chasing or whatever or if it gets stolen.
