Tool / Survival kits for your XJ or other Jeep
I was just thinking about this the other day and wondering if anyone else does the same thing as me. I keep a fairly large set of tools and a survival kit in my jeep all the time and was wondering if I am the only one who does this. When I first bought my Jeep I was excited at the prospect of having a vehicle that wouldn't be turned back by silly problems such as blizzards and impassable roads like my old car was. So I though further, thinking why don't I just put a bunch of extra tools and gear in it, then I wont have to worry about anything happening really. So putting a kit together for off road utility use and the like has been all most as expensive and time consuming as modifying my Jeep itself (well not really, but almost as fun).
As of now I have
-6 MRE's
-2 Gallon Jugs of Water
-3,000lb come along w/ chains and tow straps
-Extra changes of clothes w/ shoes and socks
-Extra fluids (antifreeze, engine oil, brake fluid, etc.)
-Guns: (Under my back seat) Mosin Nagant m91/30 & Armalite AR-7 w/ ammo for each
-Full wrench set w/ screwdrivers and other various other simple tools
-Blow Torch w/ extra MAP gas
-Extra fuses
-100ft spool of Paracord
-Machete, Hatchet and an Axe for cutting brush
-Continuity Meter and extra wire and splices.
-Tire Patches
-150 Watt power inverter (just enough to power an electric drill)
I might have missed one or two things but that's about it, this sounds like alot of stuff but it actually all fits under my two front seats, the back seat and whats left is divided between two ammo cans and a backpack, so it really doesnt take up too much space to haul all this stuff around, but it makes me feel alot more prepared when I head out into untraveled woods and just wherever I go really.
So just wondering if anyone else does something similar.
