Tool I made to unbolt doors
So Im selling the doors off my 98 part out and ran into a problem. All my sockets were too big to fit in the door jamb and unbolt the 2 bolts farthest in. My T40 sockets were getting stripped and not getting me anywhere so I ran down to O Reilly and bought this for $5
Got home, put it in my vice and got the grinder out. Cut the socket portion off
leaving me with this:
Then I slid a 1/4" wrench into the T40 hardened steel piece and used another wrench for more leverage so I could break the bolts loose and then use the socket to finish them off
Sorry the pics are sideways, it's the way my iPhone took them. Maybe this will help someone out. I didn't weld it to the 1/4" wrench because once it got broken loose I used a gear wrench to turn the bolt faster.

I just had someone pull on the doors so I could get the bit in there. Pain in the ***, but it worked lol
I'd thought about doing what you did, probably would on the next XJ.

My family was all too busy to help lol. I was able to make this for $5 and it made things exponentially easier to do by myself.

thats what i did, a short t40 and used a small 1/4 inch ratchet once loosened. but i cant remember what i used to break it loose first. i got all four rustfree doors this way,it was half price weekend at the junk yard. and i did buy a bunch more short t40's,about 8 bucks worth.

I took a t40 out of a cheap bit set, cut it down to just the star and about 3/16" and then took a cheapie 1/4" drive socket and cut it to where it was just deep enough for the bit to bottom out in it and the star portion be exposed. The whole thing is maybe 1/2 inch long. Now I'm curious as to where it went, I haven't seen it lately
