i hope ya got new spring packs with the lift kit and didnt cheap out and opt for AAL

Xjs can get decent mpg when mine was bone stock I was around 400 miles per tank. Now lifted and 33s get 300ish. When had a few things on my rack it killed my miles per tank by about 30-40 per tank

With a TJ carrier on the roof that tire will sit even higher than laying it across the bars with a strap. I'm not one to be all LCOG-ish but hell, there is a line. Not to mention that his Jeep will look like it has a birth defect sitting up that high. Add on top of that worse gas mileage (yes, it happens. I ran a tire on top of a rack with four lights; bad mileage) and it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

And to OP, the weight of a spare tire isn't going to make your springs sag. If you buy **** springs, they will sag.

X2. I had it on the roof but did not like it. I keep it laid down in the back (31") with a few ratchet straps. Fits perfect with the rear sear still up.
