When I put my generals on they only dropped me 1 mpg both city and highway. You can deff feel that extra weight but when it comes to offroad its not noticable one bit.

They are more agressive than duratracs that I can say for certain, I've compared mine with my dads duratracs. Offroad they have been nothing short of spectacular.
My buddy has a mud pit that is often abused by his 38 boggers and several other 35s. I stopped half way through, and was easily able to get traction again they cleaned out very well.

If you want aggressive then you should check out the federals. Most aggressive radial there is in my opinion. Mud rovers are next.
thanks for the input guys. I will definitely look over craigslist. I'm mainly concerned with longevity and price. road manners don't really matter to me. I'm 21, loud and bumpy doesn't really bother me.
I'm trying to keep the cost of the tires right around the 600 range. I can mount and balance them myself at school.
I like what I'm hearing about the Durtracs, but they do seem like more of an A/T M/T hybrid. I had A/Ts on my YJ and really did not like them, so I wanna put a real M/T on the cherokee. so I'm probably looking at the Dunlops and the Generals.
the Generals are 19 lbs a piece heavier. how much of a dent do you think a 76 lb total difference will make in gas mileage and what not?
edit: I just found those Cooper Discoverer STT for like 165 a piece, so those are a definite possibility. anybody have any experience with them?

I wasn't sure where the appropriate place to post this was, so please someone move the thread if I'm in the wrong place.
Anyways, I'm kinda new here, made an intro thread, and now I wanna get some opinions from y'all.
I'm 21 and I'm in school so the build on my XJ is gonna be a definite budget build. I'm more than likely ordering a 3.5 RE lift this Friday so now I'm looking at tires. I've narrowed it down to a few tires that are in my price range
either the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's

the Dunlop Radial Mud Rover
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....m=105R5MROVOWL
or the General Grabber

Thoughts?

Treadwright for a cheaper option. I think shipping is $20 a tire, guys in my overland group recommend them.
I'll see what I can find on the Federals. thanks for the input. First time buying M/T's for me and I don't wanna end up with buyers remorse for the length of the life of the tire haha.
This place has pretty good deals on them.

So far they have been an awesome tire. Very aggressive yet doable on the street.
Like I said I won my first mud run with them against boggers.
And on rock and hardpack they work very well.

141.78 a piece and good reviews? I think we may have a winner.
