Find an XJ in your local JY that has tow hooks and snag them for your Jeep. That's about the best you will do price wise.

I would just google XJ towhooks. literally any 4x4 shop sells towhooks. Just shop around and buy them from the place offering the best deal. be sure and check e-bay and Amamzon, also Quadratec.

The guy who mentioned a rear tow hitch hit it right on the head. I still have my OEM rear bumper because I have a class III tow hitch protecting the rear of my XJ. I have slammed the entire weight of the Jeep down on the hitch on solid rock many times. It has saved my and the Jeeps A$$ many times. The other cool thing is you can stick the looped end of a 3" tow strap right into the receiver and stick the pin or a bolt through it and instant rear tow point.

you can't just bolt on a hook to the frame or bumper. you will need a specific cherokee tow hook bracket that mounts to the frame the same way an off road recovery/winch bumper would mount. these are available from most aftermarket supply shops.
you can replicate these and fabricate them yourself, but it is the proper way to not have a hook yanked out during an extraction.

or simply get yourself a reputable front bumper with shackle mounts.

You'll need something like this for the front. The bracket is bolted through the uni frame multiple times to support towing.

I found a set for $35 shipped that have surface rust and just need to be wire wheeled and painted. But, they are the OEM style which I wanted. Next is straps...

But, I did notice that the hooks for the wranglers that just bolt to the their bumpers, can't we just bolt the hook itself to the remaining holes on the passenger side nut strip? I know their isn't a whole lot of support, but for minor tow, can't this work too?

i wouldn't trust it. the wranglers have a thicker full frame that is designed to have those hooks. the rears are actually on a bracket somewhat like the front brackets for the xj.
you can get a rear hook bracket for the xj that bolts into the nutstrips like a hitch mounts, but they're quite rare. you can however fabricate one if it's plenty strong enough.

Look for a bumper that has the tie in brackets for the front or it will just get pulled off. Example google jcr off road to get ideas

Anyone know if this bracket and hook kit just bolts right on? I have a 94 cherokee country with absolutely NO recovery options. Unless you'd call the rear axle a recovery option. Side note, why would you make a Cherokee without Hooks, a hitch, or anything??!?
