Default tinted taillights and reflectors???

just wonderin' if its legal in california or not and also if they are illegal, how likely are you to be pulled over for it. ive been seeing pics of some awesome ones and have really been looking into it for my cherokee.

Not legal, I used to get pulled over time and time again in my Mach 1 when I had my tail lights tinted. I finally got tired of it and switched them out for OEM tails.

What about getting an altezza style tail light that has the dark colored inside, I have seen a few that looks pretty decent. Then at least you'll stay legal with the side reflector and what not.

Tinting your headlights/taillights or replacing them with anything that is not DOT approved is illegal in every state I believe. Some states care and the cops will pull you over and some states dont. Oh and please say no to altezza style lights. . . . worst car trend ever!!

Seriously. Altezza tail lights don't even look good on altezzas. One member tinted the rear turn signals red and that looked pretty good. It looked stock and not like another cheapo mod

I didn't want the backed out look, just a light smoked look so I used VHT Niteshades and only did a very light coating. It turned out really well and doesn't affect the luminosity of the lights too much and I passed my state inspection without issues.

i think you should ask a local police officer..thats what i did..she told me as long as the red shown through bright enough it was legal...and that was my old neon..now i got completely blacked out lights on my cherokee and havent been bothered but i live in ma so the cops aint too strict on mods <img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs299.ash2/57918_152147188138290_100000290287535_402019_79819 68_n.jpg">
