Tint laws on cherokees
I know you guys might not like people calling xj station wagons or SUVs but that's what they are classified as & what most cops see them as.
I recently got my xj tinted & the guy told me that SUVs are allowed to have the back windows tinted up to 5%
Because of it being all open & people can see in your "trunk". Unlike a car where you can't see inside.
It might be different from state to state but that's what I heard for a pretty reliable source (person that works at a tinting shop)
So I went ahead & tinted the back 5% which he said was legal but, the front windows have to be (for Florida) < 20% or something like that & I tinted them illegal which is 15%
Not sure if this is true but I thought you guys might want to know for your benefit.
(don't get mad @ me if you do it and get a ticket lol)

In Maine, it's no tint on windshield except the top 4". less than 35% in the front windows, everything behind the drivers seat can be whatever you want. but since all states are different. This is Florida
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front*Side*Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back*Side*Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear*Window Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Restricted*Colors No colors of tint are explicitly banned.
Side*Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate*Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker*Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the inside of the driver’s side doorjamb.
Medical*Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

I live in NC, it says for the windshield, tint must only be above the manufacturer's AS-1 line...anyone know what that is?
But yeah, 35% for front windows and then 5% can be done in the rear windows, quarters, and hatch window since it's an SUV
