Ok so a month of research and 5 new threads later, I have decided on a setup for my next xj. It will be my daily driver but I don't travel far. just give me a thumbs up or thumbs down and if you give thumbs down tell me why.

Setup:
Lift: 5.5" iron rock offroad, jks discos
tires: 32"x11.5 cooper stt's on 15x8" cragars with 4.5 backspacing
steering: iro Double sheer adj. Trackbar, rough country stabilizer, 1/2 ton tie rod
other stuff: Tom woods driveshaft, hack n tap sye, Aussie front locker.

thats what I'm starting with. do I NEED anything else?

5.5 is awfully big for 32s. i would personally go with a 4.5 if you want 32'' tires.
also, 4'' backspacing will give it a wider/meaner stance.

32's are actually a size too large for maine state laws. also more backspacing and I'd have to get flares which I'll do eventually but not now. Also, I like the 5.5 because I can get my 34x9.5 LTB's under it on the weekends. I was really thinking about 4.5 but that's what made my descision.

i like the bigger lift and smaller than usual tires, gives you way more flexx

Yea it should look better with stock flares too until I get bushwackers and 3.75 backspacing. the way I see it, this is step one(first bank drainer)
When I get the bank filled back up to a safe level, I'll move on too step two whatever that brings me too it's the fun part about having an xj.

lol yea too a degree. I got two friends with xj's. Ones got a 2" bb, trimmed fenders and 31's. that thing rubs when you slow down too fast lol. My other friend Brett has a 4.5" rc with 30x9.5's both cases are overkill(or underkill) but yea the kit says 33x12.5 recommended. 32x11.5's are only 1 size smaller but will help mpg, flex, handling, suspension wear, as well as keep the fuzz off my tail

Well I was thinking about 4:10's later on. I don't wana go much higher for mpg but weel see how it does with the 34's with stock gearing. If it's bad I'll go get me some 4:10's. how are like a 3:73? I've heard of people running those but never seen em myself.

well since you are going to be going back and forth with different tire sizes i would do at least 4.10's with 34's. this way when you put the 32's back on you'll be good and have some extra oomff.

B/S. my 3" IRO lift calls for 4.5" b/s. i just put 4" b/s silver soft 8's on 235 Dura tracs and LOVE the stance. it does stick out about 3/4- 1" past the flare. for a 5.5 lift i would do at least 4"b/s 3.75" if i had flares.

We have flare laws here too,but they don't mess with you to much.
sound like a sweeeet set up. can't wait to see it.
