So I've spent the last 8 months getting my Grand the way I wanted it and it's time to start looking for some mud terrains.

I've narrowed the search down to two...
1.) BF Goodrich KM2s
2.) Goodyear Wrangler MT/R w/ DuPont Kevlar

Heard good things from both, sounds like the BFG last longer.

I'm mainly interested in tread life as both tires are plenty capable for what I'm doing. Any advice?

 

I just looked at thse kevlars yesterday. They looked like they would be really good tires. and puncture resistent sidewalls

 

Yea that sidewall resistance is making me lean a little bit more towards them.. My friend just punctured his tire while we were out yesterday, made me a little paranoid

 

I foam fill mine but the tread looks more aggresive on the kevlars also.
I've been thinking about next set of tires i get not filling them so I can air them down when needed... but I never have to worry about puncturing my tire or rolling it off the bead

 

I read on tirerack.com that this one guy only made it to about 20k miles on his Goodyears. Reading that is what made this choice difficult

 

I just bought a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain Radials and all the reviews I read were positive except for one or two, most stated they got well over 50,000 miles with a few guys stating they got 80,000. I am VERY happy with them as I probably wouldn't have made it to my property and back, of course I don't have the mudders but the M+S performed very well.

 

Yea I know the all terrains are good stuff.

 

I love Mastercraft Courser mt tires. I have a set on my 80 k10 Chevy, and they do awesome for me. I went to The Badlands with the truck and was very pleased with them. I recently put a set on my 95 Grand and so far good things again and they balance out real good.

 

my dad has those goodyears on his yj...excellent tire..rides good on street too.

 

i have the good year wrangler duratrac muds. they are great. quiet on the highway and pull right through the slippery stuff. i found out yesterday while heading out to get a tow dolly from a buddies property. the whole driveway was mud, and we had to go around the garage. (this is out in the country) it was about 6 inches deep the whole way and then pulling a trailer back through it all too.

 

Just remember that Kevlar makes the tire resistant to punctures; not puncture proof. Both tires are good tires, I would prefer the KM2's if I was in the market for tires.

I have several buddies that run the KM2s and they love them. good street handling, excellent cleaning, does great in the mud and rocks

 

my brothers got the KM2s loves them, I have a personal aversion to all goodyear tires because they are exactly that, good for one year and thats it

 

hahaha. this is funny. i know that all terrains last a really long time, but when i bought my jeep it just had 4 brand new bfg ats on it. 500 bucks for the jeep. the tires would have costed more than that. i only got 20,000 miles out of them until the threads were showing. not that theyre bad tires or anything, i just think its funny. i drove the $#!+ out of the jeep the first year.
