Thoughts on a 94 purchase?
Greetings!
I'm a newbie to the forum and to the jeep world in general though I've always had an affinity for them.
I'm currently looking at a 94 Cherokee 2 door with a 4-cylinder, 5-speed and 178,xxx on the clock. Owner is asking 1,200 or best offer and I've looked it over though haven't heard it run yet. Floor boards were "punky" on the outside and passenger side door gives a little when opening but overall the body was quite solid - even the rockers - which was a nice surprise considering it's location being Maine. Looked fairly dry underneath the drivetrain and a new clutch and shocks have been installed - tires look new.
Might this thing still have some life left? What major drivetrain problems must I look for? I don't mind wrenching some and fixing the floor boards but am not really in the position to acquire a money pit either - better to stay away? Am going to take it up the road this evening and was thinking of offering in the $600-$800 range if it seems reasonably straight.
Thanks for any insight!

Well, if it was me, I'd look for a 4.0. Never heard anyone say "I wish I had gotten the 4 cylinder", but I've heard a lot of people with the 4banger say, " I wish I had the six"!
