You asked so I want to say that I think you are paying too much. But thats not my business. I would pay 2 grand if it was geared and selectable locked at both ends but otherwise a 1990 with 256000 miles is worthless around here. (maybe its different by you so again, just giving my opinion). Not to say that it wont run, we have members here with more miles.
As far as the axles : 8.25 rear is the one you want and it has a 3 inch tube diameter and a flat spot on the bottom of the diff. The skinnier one is a 35 and it sucks. Unless they have been swapped but that you would have to check. As far as the front if its stock its a d30 and its ok.
