My guage never goes over 120 except when u start it

First place to start would be the sending unit. Don't go to Autozone for the part. They don't even have the right one in their system. Try Napa

I'm sure its running hotter than 120*. I would get an infrared temp gauge and see what the temp is on the thermostat housing.
